Wed May 07 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## NXT Battleground Set After Wild Night of Action at WWE NXT

**Orlando, FL** – WWE NXT delivered a night of thrilling matches and shocking developments on May 6th, 2025, at the WWE Performance Center. The show culminated in the crowning of a new number one contender for the NXT Championship and set the stage for several key matches at the upcoming Battleground event.

The main event was a chaotic 25-man battle royal to determine Oba Femi’s next challenger. After a frenetic brawl featuring NXT stars like Trick Williams, Ethan Page, Timothy Thatcher, and former TNA and WWE star Elijah, Myles Borne emerged victorious, securing his title shot. The match saw numerous eliminations, including surprising upsets and several alliances forming and breaking down throughout the contest. Notable eliminations included Trick Williams (at the hands of Elijah), and Ethan Page (eliminated by Borne). The final four saw Borne, Page, Shawn Spears, and Je’Von Evans battle it out for the coveted spot, with Borne ultimately standing tall.

Earlier in the evening, a high-stakes Number One Contenders match saw Giulia fall to Jordynne Grace, setting up Grace for a title match against NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer. In another women’s division clash, Zaria defeated Kelani Jordan in a hard-fought contest.

The NXT Tag Team Champions, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, alongside Joe Hendry, faced DarkState in a six-man tag team match. Despite a strong showing, the team was defeated when DarkState capitalized on outside interference from Trick Williams, who pulled Hendry out of the ring during the match leading to their downfall.

Post-battle royal, Joe Hendry was informed that he will be defending his TNA World Championship against Trick Williams at Battleground. The show also revealed that Yoshiki Inamura is departing NXT to return to Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan, leaving his team, The Culling, to question the future of the group. Myles Borne’s victory, however, was immediately complicated when his own No Quarter Catch Crew teammate, Charlie Dempsey, attempted to claim the title shot for himself, prompting Borne to suggest a match between Dempsey and Femi for next week. The show concluded with a showdown between Jaida Parker and Karmen Petrovic, which Parker won, only to be blindsided by Thea Hail.

NXT Battleground promises to be an explosive event, with several compelling title matches and rivalries set to reach a boiling point.
