Wed May 07 07:38:38 UTC 2025: ## India Launches Precision Strikes in Pakistan After Pahalgam Terror Attack

**NEW DELHI, May 7, 2025** – India launched “Operation Sindoor” early this morning, carrying out a series of precision strikes targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK). The operation is a direct response to a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India, on May 7, 2025, which killed 26 civilians, including 25 Indians and one Nepali national. The Indian government blames Pakistan-based militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for the attack.

The Defence Ministry announced that the strikes successfully dismantled terrorist infrastructure, targeting JeM’s base in Bahawalpur and LeT’s hub in Muridke, among other locations. A key element of the operation was the deployment of loitering munitions, also known as “suicide drones,” for the first time in a real-world operation. These drones, including indigenously produced Nagastra-1, allow for precise targeting with minimal collateral damage.

The Indian government emphasized that the operation was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” and that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. The use of precision-guided munitions reflects India’s commitment to a proportionate response while minimizing civilian casualties. The operation marks a significant development in India’s counter-terrorism strategy.
