Wed May 07 13:20:00 UTC 2025: ## “Poker Face” Season 2 Returns with a Star-Studded Premiere and a Pittsburgh Connection

**Tarentum, PA –** The Peacock streaming series “Poker Face” returns for its second season on May 8th, with the first three episodes dropping immediately, followed by weekly releases on Thursdays through July 10th. The season premiere features a standout performance by Cynthia Erivo, who plays multiple siblings, one of whom is murdered. While star Natasha Lyonne’s character, Charlie Cale, doesn’t appear until 16 minutes into the episode, Erivo’s performance dominates the hour, showcasing both comedic and dramatic talents.

Showrunner Tony Tost credits the show’s success to the unique blend of creator Rian Johnson’s vision and Lyonne’s performance. He describes Johnson’s writing style as similar to Paul McCartney’s, while Lyonne’s approach he likens to that of Lou Reed.

Season two sees Charlie traveling across the US, with one episode, written by Tost himself, taking place in a North Carolina minor league baseball stadium. This episode, titled “Hometown Hero,” incorporates a plot twist inspired by the infamous story of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis, who famously pitched a no-hitter while allegedly under the influence of LSD in 1970. The episode even makes direct reference to Ellis.
