**Hyderabad, May 7, 2025** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 14 districts in Telangana, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds on Thursday, May 8. The affected districts include Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, and Medak.
Hyderabad and surrounding areas are expected to experience partly cloudy skies, transitioning to generally cloudy conditions by evening or night. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds are anticipated later in the day.
Recent thunderstorms and rainfall across the state have resulted in a decrease in maximum temperatures. While temperatures soared above 45°C in some districts during the last week of April, the highest temperature recorded on Tuesday, May 6, was 41.6°C in Miryalguda. The IMD’s forecast reflects a welcome respite from the intense heat that has recently gripped the region.
