Wed May 07 10:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Severe Storms Slam Metro Atlanta, Delaying Braves Game
**Atlanta, GA** – Metro Atlanta and surrounding areas were hit by a severe weather system Friday evening, bringing multiple tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings, and a possible waterspout over Lake Lanier. The storm, which moved eastward, brought damaging winds, hail, heavy rain, and frequent lightning, forcing a delay in the Braves-Dodgers game at Truist Park.
According to FOX 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson, the system prompted numerous warnings across the region and just beyond the Georgia state line. Videos circulating online appear to show a waterspout forming over Lake Lanier before moving onshore as a tornado. While the baseball game was delayed, officials were able to clear the field and resume play after 10 p.m. ET.
Residents were urged to exercise caution due to the risk of damaging winds, hail, and lightning. However, the storms are expected to clear overnight, giving way to a sunny Sunday with highs in the low 70s and only a slight chance of lingering rain.
