**New Delhi/Islamabad, May 8, 2025** – India launched pre-dawn missile strikes on Wednesday against nine alleged terrorist camps located across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Boundary in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, dubbed “Operation Sindoor,” prompted an immediate response from Pakistan.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the strikes targeted only terrorist infrastructure and avoided civilian, economic, or military sites. Pakistan also alleges that the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project was targeted. No evidence has been presented to support these claims, and they remain unconfirmed by India.

Pakistan’s statement further asserted its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, hinting at further action and a potential appeal to the UN Security Council to hold India accountable. The escalating situation raises serious concerns about regional stability and the potential for further conflict.
