Tue May 06 20:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India Launches Airstrikes in Pakistan Following Pulwama Attack

**ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI** – India launched a series of airstrikes targeting nine terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday, February 27th, in retaliation for the February 14th Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. The strikes, codenamed “Operation Sundar,” reportedly focused on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) facilities in areas including Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Gulpur, Bhimber, Chak Amru, and Sialkot.

Indian officials maintain that the strikes were targeted and limited to terrorist infrastructure, avoiding any attacks on Pakistani military installations. However, Pakistani media outlets, citing eyewitness accounts, report significant damage in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bahawalpur’s Ahmad East area. A photograph purportedly showing a wounded JeM terrorist receiving hospital treatment following the strikes has emerged.

The Pakistani military confirmed the airstrikes, with spokesperson Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor stating that Pakistan Air Force jets were scrambled in response. Reports indicate a blackout in Muzaffarabad following the attack. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif issued a strong warning to India, describing the situation as a near-war scenario and raising fears of escalating tensions along the border.

The Indian Ministry of Defence described the operation as “preemptive, calibrated, and non-escalatory,” emphasizing that the targets were selected based on intelligence indicating their involvement in planning terrorist attacks against India. The action is viewed as a strong response to the Pulwama attack and signals India’s resolve against cross-border terrorism. The exact extent of casualties remains unclear, and both sides are maintaining a strong stance. The situation remains highly volatile, with the potential for further escalation.
