**NEW DELHI** – In a major escalation, the Indian Army and Air Force conducted precision strikes on multiple terror camps across Pakistan early this morning in Operation Sindoor. The operation, authorized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the April 22nd Pahalgam massacre in Jammu and Kashmir, targeted key training facilities of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, including their headquarters in Bahawalpur and Muridke, respectively.
Sources reveal that two of the targeted locations were identified five years ago, following the Balakot air strikes, but were not attacked at that time to avoid escalation. This time, however, the Indian military acted decisively, striking at least nine sites in response to the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. A Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot has claimed responsibility for the massacre.
While India claims to have hit nine sites, Pakistan has confirmed only three – Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. The Indian Army, in a statement, emphasized its commitment to holding perpetrators accountable while avoiding unnecessary provocation and confirmed that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. The Prime Minister’s office confirmed that Modi closely monitored the operation throughout its execution. The strikes follow a series of diplomatic measures initiated against Pakistan earlier.
