Wed May 07 03:00:44 UTC 2025: **LG Electronics to Invest ₹5,001 Crore in Andhra Pradesh Manufacturing Unit**
AMARAVATI, INDIA (May 7, 2025) – South Korean electronics giant LG is set to establish a major manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh, India, representing a significant investment in the state’s industrial growth. The ₹5,001 crore (approximately $600 million USD) project, announced today, will create 2,000 jobs over the next six years and will be located in Sri City near Tirupati.
Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Human Resource Development and Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, will lay the foundation stone for the new unit on May 8th. The facility will produce home appliances, and a further ₹839 crore will be invested in five ancillary units within the state to manufacture key components like compressors and heat exchangers, reducing reliance on imports.
This investment follows a 2024 meeting between Mr. Lokesh and LG representatives in Japan, where the state’s business-friendly policies and efforts to develop Rayalaseema as an electronics manufacturing hub were highlighted. The Andhra Pradesh government expedited approvals and offered incentives to secure the project.
According to Mr. Lokesh, this investment is part of a larger trend, with over ₹8 lakh crore in investments and 5 lakh promised jobs secured through MoUs over the past 11 months. The LG investment underscores Andhra Pradesh’s growing attractiveness to foreign investors in the manufacturing sector.
