**New Delhi, May 7, 2025** – India conducted a cross-border counter-terrorism operation codenamed “Operation Sindoor” overnight, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in response to the April 22nd Pahalgam terror attack. The Defence Ministry confirmed the operation, stating that it was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” with no Pakistani military facilities targeted. The ministry highlighted India’s restraint in target selection and execution methods.

Simultaneously, nationwide civil defence mock drills were held across several districts, including major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. These drills, taking place in locations such as Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (Delhi), La Martiniere School (Kolkata), and various grounds across Mumbai, Kochi, Guwahati, and Bhubaneswar, aimed to assess preparedness following the recent attack. The drills involved participation from civil defence personnel, NCC cadets, and students.
