**Mumbai, India (May 6, 2025)** – The third season of the T20 Mumbai League is set to explode with a player auction on Wednesday, May 7th, featuring a dynamic mix of young talent and seasoned domestic cricketers. A total of 280 players will be vying for spots on eight competing teams at the Wankhede Stadium, where the tournament will run from May 26th to June 8th.

The auction is generating significant buzz, particularly around rising stars like 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who impressed during IPL 2025, along with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Tanush Kotian. However, the player pool also boasts experienced domestic players such as Siddhesh Lad and Shams Mulani, adding a crucial balance of established skill and youthful energy.

Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap highlighted the exceptional talent on offer, stating, “This player pool is a testament to the strength of Mumbai cricket. It’s a great mix of emerging and established players, offering teams solid choices to build competitive line-ups.”

The auction itself is divided into three tiers: Senior Players (with First-Class, List A, or T20 experience), Emerging Players (representing Mumbai at U-19 or U-23 levels in the last three years), and Development Players (local or club-level talent). Base prices are ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh, and ₹2 lakh, respectively.

Teams have a budget cap of ₹1 crore but must spend at least ₹80 lakh, building squads of at least 18 players with specific requirements for senior, emerging, and development players. Significantly, each team must select two players born on or after September 1, 2005, with at least one featuring in every match. Icon players are signed at a fixed ₹20 lakh. The auction promises to be a strategic battleground as franchises carefully balance youth, experience, and future potential in their roster builds.
