Wed May 07 04:42:24 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad to Hold Air Strike Drill Amidst Heightened Tensions
**Hyderabad, Telangana, May 7, 2025** – Hyderabad will conduct a large-scale civil defence mock drill simulating an air strike on Wednesday evening, from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The exercise, codenamed ‘Operation Abhyaas’, will temporarily restrict traffic flow at four locations: Secunderabad Cantonment, Golconda Cantonment, Kanchan Bagh, and Nacharam, within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. Emergency services will be unaffected.
The drill, a joint operation by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services, will involve police, armed forces, fire department, health teams, and civic agencies. It will include simulated power outages, air-raid sirens, and loudspeaker announcements to create a realistic emergency scenario.
The exercise comes in the wake of heightened security concerns following India’s retaliatory ‘Operation Sindoor’ strikes on May 7th against nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. These strikes were in response to an April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of several Indian soldiers.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with drill teams. While prior alerts have been issued, the public is advised to follow instructions from officials during the exercise.
