**Srinagar, May 7, 2025** – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced today that the government is fully prepared for any escalation following heavy cross-border shelling from Pakistan. This shelling is a response to Indian missile strikes conducted earlier today targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
The strikes, in retaliation for the April 22nd Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, targeted key facilities of the Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba militant groups. Following the strikes, Pakistani forces initiated intense shelling along the border.
Lt. Governor Sinha stated he is closely monitoring the situation and has directed the deployment of resources to ensure the safety of civilians. He specifically ordered the relocation of villagers from vulnerable areas to safer locations, guaranteeing provisions for their housing, food, medical care, and transportation. “We will ensure the safety of every citizen,” he affirmed on X (formerly Twitter).
