**Mysuru, Karnataka, May 7, 2025** – Former Minister and JD(S) leader S.R. Mahesh has accused certain RTI activists of intimidating MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) employees to obtain and misuse official information. Addressing a press conference yesterday, Mr. Mahesh alleged that these activists regularly visit MUDA, bypassing designated information officers to pressure case workers into revealing information directly from files.

Mr. Mahesh claimed that some activists are even boasting of contacts with the Chief Minister. He urged the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, the MUDA Commissioner, and the Urban Development Minister to take action against this alleged misuse. He also appealed to the City Police Commissioner to intervene to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

To prevent further unauthorized access, Mr. Mahesh suggested installing CCTV cameras in MUDA offices and prohibiting unauthorized entry. He threatened to organize a protest in front of MUDA if authorities fail to act within 15 days. His concerns highlight anxieties surrounding the potential for abuse of the Right to Information Act.
