**Bengaluru, May 7, 2025** – A 52-year-old mechanical engineer, Abdul Malik, was stabbed to death and his assistant injured in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar Industrial Area on Tuesday evening. The attack stemmed from a dispute over a stolen mobile phone.

Police arrested the accused, Manoj, a daily wage worker, a few hours after the incident. Manoj is charged with murder and attempted murder.

According to police, Manoj stole a mobile phone from Malik and Jainul’s workplace. CCTV footage confirmed the theft. When confronted, Manoj allegedly stabbed Malik, fatally wounding him. Jainul, who tried to intervene, was also stabbed and sustained multiple injuries. Both victims, who are from Bihar and had worked at the firm for five years, were taken to a hospital by neighbours who heard the commotion. Jainul remains hospitalized.

The incident highlights the escalating consequences of petty crimes in the city. Police investigations are ongoing.
