Wed May 07 05:20:00 UTC 2025: ## India Launches Cross-Border Strikes, Killing Dozens of Terrorists; Pakistan Retaliates
**New Delhi/Islamabad** – India launched a major tri-services operation, codenamed “Sindoor,” targeting terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) early Wednesday morning. The operation, the first of its kind since the 1971 war, reportedly killed an estimated 70 terrorists and injured 60 more. The targets included camps belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, groups allegedly responsible for planning the recent Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were killed.
The Indian military employed a range of advanced weaponry, including SCALP cruise missiles, Hammer smart bombs, and loitering munitions, in the strikes, which hit sites in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Gulpur, Sawai, Kotli, Sarjal, Barnala, and Mehmoona.
Following the Indian strikes, Pakistan retaliated with heavy shelling and firing across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border in the Poonch sector, killing three Indian civilians. Pakistan also reported nine civilian deaths on its side as a result of Indian counter-fire. The Indian Army confirmed it responded proportionately to the Pakistani shelling.
The Indian government claims to have shared evidence with several foreign nations linking the Pakistani deep state to the Pahalgam attack. This operation, according to sources, significantly degraded the operational capabilities of the targeted terrorist groups.
