Wed May 07 09:32:55 UTC 2025: ## India Launches Major Cross-Border Missile Strikes Against Terror Camps in Pakistan

**New Delhi, May 7** – India launched a major preemptive military operation early this morning, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In a coordinated air and ground assault codenamed “Operation Sindoor,” 24 missiles were fired in a 25-minute window, resulting in the reported deaths of over 70 terrorists and injuring dozens more.

The operation, announced at a press briefing by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, alongside military officials, was described as a measured response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. Colonel Sophia Qureshi stated the operation marked a strategic shift, aimed at dismantling the decades-long development of terror infrastructure within Pakistan and PoK.

The strikes, carried out between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM, targeted locations in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal. These sites, identified through credible intelligence, were allegedly linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror groups. Five locations were in PoK, and four were within mainland Pakistan.

The Indian government asserted that all targets were successfully neutralized, with UAV reconnaissance confirming the destruction of command centers, training camps, arms depots, and staging facilities. Precision-guided munitions were used to minimize civilian casualties. No Pakistani military installations were targeted, officials confirmed.

Foreign Secretary Misri emphasized that the operation was a proportionate response to the imminent threat of further attacks against India, stating that the action was “measured and non-escalatory.” The operation utilized a mix of ground-launched and air-launched missiles, with real-time monitoring ensuring the effectiveness of the strikes.
