Tue May 06 20:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India Launches ‘Operation Sindhur,’ Devastates Nine Jaish-e-Mohammed Terror Camps in Pakistan

**New Delhi, May 7, 2025** – In a swift and decisive operation, the Indian Armed Forces launched “Operation Sindhur” early this morning, targeting nine Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK). The operation, utilizing advanced precision-guided munitions, comes in response to the April 22nd terrorist attack in Pehalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, was linked by Indian intelligence agencies to JeM and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after cancelling a trip to Saudi Arabia, convened an emergency meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He vowed swift retribution for the Pehalgam attack, a commitment fulfilled by Operation Sindhur.

The operation employed state-of-the-art weaponry, including Scalp cruise missiles and Hammer missiles launched from Rafale fighter jets. This ensured maximum impact with minimal civilian casualties. The Scalp (also known as Storm Shadow), a long-range, low-observable cruise missile, boasts a range of 250-560 km (some sources claim up to 600km) and a sophisticated guidance system, including GPS, terrain referencing and infrared seeking. The Hammer missile, a modular, precision-guided munition, offers flexible ranges and payload options, making it effective against various targets including bunkers. Both missiles proved highly effective in penetrating deeply entrenched targets. Further supplementing the operation were indigenous laser-guided bombs (Sudarshan) and drone-launched micromunitions.

The operation involved a sophisticated decoy operation, drawing Pakistani Air Force attention away from the main strike. The meticulously planned attack, carried out at low altitudes under the cover of darkness, successfully evaded Pakistani radar systems. Targets included JeM headquarters in Bahawalpur, training camps in Muzaffarabad and Kotli, weapons depots in Rawalpindi, and other key installations across both sides of the LoC.

The operation, lasting approximately 30 minutes, showcased India’s deep-strike capabilities, with strikes extending up to 150 km into Pakistani territory. While Pakistan condemned the operation as an act of aggression, it refrained from a significant military response. The operation has created widespread fear and speculation within Pakistan, with social media abuzz with concerns about the capabilities of Indian weaponry and the Rafale fighter jets. Reports of panic in Pakistani media and the public have emerged.

The Indian Air Force, Army and intelligence agencies (RAW, IB, NTRO) coordinated seamlessly in this operation, demonstrating India’s enhanced military preparedness and technological superiority. The success of Operation Sindhur underscores India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and protecting its national security interests.
