BENGALURU, INDIA (May 6, 2025) – Aadyam Theatre is bringing the Hindi adaptation of Anthony Shaffer’s acclaimed psychological thriller, *Sleuth*, to Bengaluru audiences. The play, titled *Saanp Seedhi*, will run for two nights only, May 9th and 10th, at Ranga Shankara.
Directed by Shubhrajyoti Barat and starring renowned actors Sumeet Vyas and Kumud Mishra, *Saanp Seedhi* reimagines the original British setting within an Indian context. Playwright Akarsh Khurana has adapted the story, transforming the original mystery novelist into a self-made B-grade film producer, adding a layer of complexity to the narrative. The production also features innovative stage design, including a liminal space reflecting the characters’ unraveling psyches and the use of a silent puppet observer.
The play centers on a lethal game of manipulation between a flamboyant film producer (Mishra) and his wife’s lover (Vyas). Director Barat emphasized the importance of creating an adaptation that resonated with Indian audiences, stating that he aimed for more than just a simple translation. Vyas, excited to return to the stage after a decade, described his character as more than just “the other man,” highlighting the unpredictable nature and motivations behind his actions.
