**PHOENIX, AZ (May 5, 2024)** – Phoenix residents are enjoying a final burst of cool spring weather before a significant heatwave hits later this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). A low-pressure system is bringing rain chances to the Desert Southwest through at least Saturday.

Scattered showers are expected throughout Friday, with a 30% chance of rain increasing to 60% by evening. While rainfall will be less significant than Thursday’s downpours, some areas, particularly foothills and higher terrain, could see accumulations closer to 0.20 inches per hour. Saturday’s rain chances will drop to 20%.

High temperatures will remain in the 60s on Friday, climbing into the 70s on Saturday. However, a rapid warming trend is expected, with temperatures surpassing 80 degrees by Sunday.
