Tue May 06 02:40:21 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Continues Ceasefire Violations Along LoC, India Responds
**Srinagar, J&K, May 6, 2025** – For the twelfth consecutive night, the Pakistan Army violated the 2021 ceasefire agreement, engaging in unprovoked small-arms fire along the Line of Control (LoC). The attacks, which began on April 24th, targeted Indian positions in multiple sectors across Jammu and Kashmir, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor.
The Indian Army responded proportionately to the escalating aggression, which has affected five of the seven border districts in the region. No firing has been reported along the International Border in Samba and Kathua districts. The latest incidents follow a deadly April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have dramatically increased since the attack. In response to the Pahalgam incident, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, prompting Pakistan to retaliate by blocking its airspace to Indian carriers, closing the Wagah border crossing, suspending bilateral trade, and threatening an act of war should water diversion occur.
The 2021 ceasefire agreement, a reaffirmation of the 2003 accord, is proving increasingly ineffective in the face of repeated Pakistani violations. The escalating situation raises serious concerns about the fragile peace along the 3,323-kilometer border shared by the two nations. The continuing cross-border firing underscores the deteriorating security environment and the urgent need for de-escalation.
