**Belagavi, Karnataka, May 6, 2025** – The Belagavi Zilla Panchayat launched a new campaign, “Dudiyonu Ba” (Come on, let us work), aimed at increasing participation in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) program. The initiative, which began May 1st, focuses on raising awareness and encouraging more laborers to seek work under the scheme.
The campaign will provide information on applying for jobs and claiming wages, actively identifying unregistered families, and registering them for unskilled work. The ultimate goal is to ensure all registered laborers receive 100 days of work, thereby reducing seasonal migration. A particular emphasis will be placed on the inclusion of weaker sections, including women, the disabled, and gender minorities.
In conjunction with the campaign, health camps are being organized for current MGNREGA workers, and a job card verification drive is underway to update registration records. Details about the MGNREGA program are available at local gram panchayat offices. The initiative marks a proactive step by the Belagavi Zilla Panchayat to utilize MGNREGA for employment generation and social inclusion.
