**Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, May 6, 2025** – Ariyalur police are searching for a pawnshop employee who allegedly absconded with 1.5 kg of gold ornaments and 8 kg of silver ornaments, valued at approximately ₹32 lakh.
G. Kanniyalal Vaishnaw, a Rajasthan native employed at Sri Arvind Sivan Bankers for three months, was entrusted with delivering the valuables to a relative’s pawnshop on Saturday evening. He subsequently disappeared, leaving behind an empty jewelry box. His phone is currently switched off.
The pawnshop owner, P. Aasadloda, also from Rajasthan, reported the theft to the police, who have launched an investigation and registered a case. The incident highlights security concerns surrounding the handling of valuables in pawnbroking businesses.
