Tue May 06 14:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Malia Obama Directs Nike Campaign for A’ja Wilson’s Signature Shoe

**COLUMBIA, SC** – Former President Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia Obama, directed the latest Nike commercial campaign for WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson’s new signature shoe, the A’One. The two-part commercial series launched earlier this month, showcasing Wilson’s accomplishments and impact on the sport.

The first commercial, released May 3rd, features a reworked version of the nursery rhyme “Miss Mary Mack,” highlighting Wilson’s achievements. A second commercial, “Teaching the Pro,” released May 4th, shows a young girl teaching Wilson the song and the game, emphasizing the lasting influence of Wilson’s legacy.

Obama, a Harvard graduate with prior experience in film, reportedly filmed the commercial in South Carolina in February, coinciding with Wilson’s jersey retirement ceremony. The campaign also features a cameo by South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, who praised the shoe’s comfort.

Wilson, a three-time WNBA MVP and two-time champion playing her eighth season with the Las Vegas Aces, celebrated the launch by gifting pairs of the A’One ‘Pink A’ura’ to her teammates. The shoe, priced at $110 (kids’ size $90), will be available for purchase starting May 6th. Wilson made the initial announcement of her signature shoe in a preseason game on May 11th, 2024. The campaign’s creative direction by Malia Obama adds another layer of attention to the already highly anticipated release.
