**Guwahati, India –** Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leveled serious allegations against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife, Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi, on Tuesday. Sarma claimed that Ms. Gogoi has extensive ties to the Pakistani Army, citing 19 trips between India and Pakistan, often accompanied by Pakistani officials. He further alleged that she worked in Pakistan and continued receiving a salary from the country while employed by a Delhi-based NGO.

The Chief Minister also accused Mr. Gogoi of a 15-day personal visit to Pakistan, during which he allegedly remained for seven days longer than his wife. Sarma demanded an explanation for the visit and its purpose, questioning whether it involved direct or indirect assistance to the Pakistani army. He contrasted this with Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Pakistan, emphasizing that it was an official trip.

Sarma stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing links between a Pakistani national and his Indian partners has concluded its investigation and found evidence that Mr. Gogoi crossed the Wagah-Attari border. He added that the official documentation of this evidence would be completed by September 10th. He also alleged that Mr. Gogoi, after his return from Pakistan, took 90 youths to the Pakistani embassy without their prior knowledge, claiming this was an attempt at youth radicalization. Sarma further alleged that only Mr. Gogoi holds Indian citizenship in his family, with his children having surrendered their Indian citizenship.

While the Assam government has limited jurisdiction, Sarma said they will submit their findings to the Prime Minister’s Office for further investigation by a central agency.

Mr. Gogoi, who previously accused Mr. Sarma of political maneuvering by targeting his family, has yet to respond directly to these new allegations. The Congress party responded by focusing on Assam’s social issues, citing concerns about education and poverty.
