Rajanna Sircilla, Telangana, May 6, 2025 – Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has accused the Telangana Congress government of neglecting farmers and failing to deliver on its election promises. He cited delays in paddy procurement and payments as evidence of the state government’s “misgovernance and incompetence.”
Speaking to reporters after visiting a paddy procurement center in Rajanna Sircilla district, Mr. Kumar highlighted that despite the opening of over 500 procurement centers months ago, less than half of the expected seven lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased in Karimnagar and Rajanna Sircilla districts. He further criticized the delay in transferring payments to farmers’ accounts, even a month after the paddy purchase.
Mr. Kumar directly criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s comments regarding the state’s financial constraints, arguing that these remarks demonstrate an inability to address farmers’ concerns. The Union Minister emphasized that the central government has provided full funding for paddy procurement, including costs associated with damaged sacks, totaling ₹1.5 lakh crore over the past decade.
He demanded immediate action from the state government, urging them to expedite paddy procurement, ensure timely payments to farmers, and provide assistance to those impacted by recent unseasonal rains. Mr. Kumar’s visit followed accounts from several farmers expressing their distress over the procurement delays.
