**COIMBATORE, INDIA (May 6, 2025)** – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vanathi Srinivasan led a protest in Coimbatore today, condemning Monday’s Pahalgam attack and sharply criticizing the Tamil Nadu government’s response to extremism and illegal immigration.
Ms. Srinivasan highlighted Coimbatore’s history of extremist violence, citing the 1998 serial bombings and the 2022 car bomb blast as examples. She accused the Tamil Nadu government of inaction, claiming that despite the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filing four charge sheets in the car bomb case, the state police have provided no updates. She further alleged a lack of transparency and accountability in the investigation.
The MLA also raised concerns about the presence of illegal immigrants, particularly from Pakistan, in areas surrounding Coimbatore, alleging that they are operating under the guise of migrant workers. She criticized the state government’s failure to conduct any police-led enumeration or verification of their status.
Ms. Srinivasan defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy, stating it aims to isolate Pakistan-backed terrorism. She contrasted the BJP and RSS’s commitment to national security with other political parties, claiming they prioritize vote-bank politics over national well-being. The protest comes amidst rising concerns about national security following the Pahalgam attack.
