**GUWAHATI, INDIA – May 6, 2025** – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leveled serious allegations against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of attempting to radicalize 90 Indian youths through the Pakistani Embassy. Sarma claims Gogoi took the youths to the embassy during a recent 15-day trip to Pakistan, misleading them about the itinerary and operating under a veil of secrecy. He further alleges that some youths reported being taken to the Pakistan Embassy instead of other promised embassies.
The Chief Minister also implicated Gogoi’s British wife, Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi, claiming she made 19 trips between India and Pakistan, with alleged assistance from the Pakistan Army. Sarma asserted that she worked for an organization linked to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s spy agency, and that Gogoi has raised pro-Pakistan questions in Parliament.
To support his claims, Sarma announced the initiation of a letter rogatory to obtain visa, passport, and other relevant details from Pakistan, a process he expects to take three months. He also called on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to clarify in Parliament whether party MPs are permitted to visit Pakistan.
The Assam Congress unit vehemently denied the allegations, dismissing them as petty politics and urging the government to focus on stronger action against Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam attack. MP Gogoi himself stated that the BJP, including the Assam Chief Minister, is engaging in petty politics at a time when national unity against Pakistan is crucial.
