**PUDUKKOTTAI, Tamil Nadu –** A violent clash erupted between members of the Most Backward Classes (MBC) and Scheduled Caste (SC) communities in Vadakadu village, Pudukkottai district, on Monday night, resulting in injuries, arson, and 14 arrests. The conflict, which occurred during the ongoing Muthumariamman temple festival, reportedly began with a dispute at a petrol station and escalated into a confrontation in a residential area.

A hut belonging to a Dalit family was set ablaze, and a two-wheeler was also destroyed during the violence. A video of the burning hut quickly spread on social media. Police, including Pudukkottai Superintendent of Police Abhishek Gupta, and Tamil Nadu Law Minister S. Regupathy, responded to the scene and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed to prevent further unrest.

According to a police press release, the initial argument stemmed from a verbal dispute between intoxicated youths from both communities at a petrol station. Damage to a government bus was also reported. Police are investigating the incident and warning against the spread of misinformation on social media, threatening legal action against those responsible. The injured have been admitted to Alangudi Government Hospital.
