Bengaluru, Karnataka – Over 1.4 lakh students in Karnataka are among the 2.3 million nationwide taking the Undergraduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (UGNEET) today, May 4th, 2025. The high-stakes medical entrance exam, administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is being held across India from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in pen-and-paper format.

Strict security protocols are in place at all 381 examination centers in Karnataka and across the country. Candidates are subject to mandatory frisking using metal detectors and are prohibited from bringing any electronic devices, including mobile phones, watches, or even writing instruments. Only an admit card, a valid government-issued photo ID, and a few specified photographs are permitted. Candidates wearing religious or cultural attire are advised to arrive at least two hours early to allow for thorough security checks. Heavy clothing and shoes are also not allowed.

The NTA has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy regarding any prohibited items, stating that candidates found with unauthorized materials will be barred from taking the exam. The agency urges candidates to familiarize themselves with the detailed list of allowed and disallowed items to ensure a smooth examination process.
