**Hyderabad, Telangana, May 3, 2025** – A sudden and intense spell of rain lashed Hyderabad on Saturday evening, catching residents off guard after two days of scorching heat. The unexpected showers, accompanied by strong winds, forced pedestrians and motorists to seek immediate shelter.
Rainfall varied across the city, with Uppal recording the highest amount at 38.5 mm. Other areas, including Moula Ali, Kapra, Mallapur, and Malkajgiri, also experienced significant rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies with a chance of light to moderate rain and gusty winds for the next 48 hours. Temperatures are expected to peak around 40°C and dip to 26°C.
However, the IMD has issued weather alerts for Sunday, May 4th. An orange alert, signifying a high likelihood of severe thunderstorms, has been issued for 13 districts in Telangana, while a yellow alert, indicating a less intense but still significant risk, is in place for nine other districts, including Hyderabad. The alerts warn of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.
