Sun May 04 04:33:16 UTC 2025: ## Small Plane Crash in Simi Valley Kills One, Damages Homes

**Simi Valley, CA –** A single-engine Van’s RV-10 aircraft crashed into a residential neighborhood in Simi Valley, California on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and damage to two homes. The crash occurred in the Wood Ranch section of the city, approximately 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Fire crews responded to the scene, where smoke billowed from one of the affected homes. Residents inside both houses evacuated safely, though the structures sustained significant structural damage and fire-related impact. Approximately 40 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and begin salvage operations.

Authorities have yet to release information about the pilot or the cause of the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating, and the wreckage will be moved to a secure facility for further examination. Investigators will review maintenance records, weather reports, air traffic control communications, witness statements, the pilot’s background, and any available surveillance footage.

This incident marks the second Van’s RV-10 crash in California this year. In January, a similar aircraft crashed in Fullerton, killing the pilot and his daughter and injuring 19 others. The NTSB’s preliminary report on that incident suggested a possibly ajar door during flight.

The NTSB anticipates releasing preliminary findings on the Simi Valley crash in several weeks, with a final report expected months later.
