Sat May 03 20:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Parts of New England

**Boston, MA –** A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, and parts of New England until 8 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service announced. A slight risk of isolated tornadoes exists from Worcester to the Berkshires.

The watch includes Middlesex, Franklin, Worcester, Hampshire, Hampden, and Berkshire counties in Massachusetts. These areas can expect downpours, hail, and strong winds (40-50 mph). Meanwhile, parts of northern Massachusetts and Connecticut are under a severe thunderstorm warning, with potential for 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail.

Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Rhode Island, and northern New Hampshire are not under the watch. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout New England. Greater Boston can anticipate warm temperatures and showers, with a slight chance of severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

While Saturday brings a risk of severe weather, Sunday will see cooler temperatures (upper 60s to near 70 degrees) and scattered showers. The forecast for the beginning of next week remains uncertain, with the possibility of periods of showers and even steady rain, depending on the interaction between a cooler air mass and summertime humidity.
