Sat May 03 21:50:00 UTC 2025: **Severe Thunderstorms Slam Parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire**

**Boston, MA –** A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, with reports of 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts and quarter-size hail. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the warning Saturday afternoon, citing damaging straight-line winds as the primary threat.

The severe thunderstorm watch, affecting areas west of Boston and parts of southern New Hampshire, is in effect until 8 p.m. Massachusetts counties under the watch include parts of Middlesex, Franklin, Worcester, Hampshire, Hampden, and Berkshire. These areas, along with others experiencing the storms, can expect heavy downpours, hail, and strong gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 mph. A very slight risk of isolated tornadoes exists from Worcester to the Berkshires and in northwest Connecticut.

The storms follow a week of rainy weather in Boston, marking the city’s eighth consecutive wet weekend. While Saturday started relatively calm, the afternoon brought severe weather to parts of central and western Massachusetts, with the storms moving east towards Greater Boston later in the day and into the evening.

Showers are expected to linger into Saturday night, primarily in southeastern Massachusetts. Sunday will see cooler temperatures, in the upper 60s to near 70, with a few lingering showers. The forecast for the beginning of next week remains uncertain, with the possibility of more showers and potentially steady rain due to a clash of warmer and cooler air masses.
