Sat May 03 22:30:00 UTC 2025: **Phillies Edge Diamondbacks in Seventh-Inning Rally**

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Phillies rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday night, fueled by back-to-back seventh-inning home runs from Kyle Schwarber and Max Kepler. Schwarber’s 10th homer of the season, tying him for the major league lead, knotted the game at 2-2. Kepler followed with a solo shot, his fourth of the season and first against a left-handed pitcher this year, giving the Phillies the lead.

Schwarber also contributed an RBI double in the first inning. Tanner Banks earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless seventh, while Jose Alvarado secured his sixth save. Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo allowed two runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Arizona starter Merrill Kelly, who had pitched effectively through five innings, left the game in the sixth with an undisclosed injury. Luis Perdomo and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had RBI singles for the Diamondbacks.

A spectacular defensive play by Johan Rojas, who made a diving catch in center field crashing into the fence, helped preserve the Phillies’ lead in the ninth. Schwarber extended his on-base streak to an MLB-leading 38 games.

The series continues Saturday with Aaron Nola pitching for Philadelphia against Brandon Pfaadt for Arizona.
