**New Delhi, May 4, 2025** – Tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating following a recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, and the revelation of a Pakistani MP’s escape plan has ignited a firestorm of criticism in India.

Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, a member of parliament from Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and the party’s spokesperson, stated that he would flee to England in the event of a war with India. This admission came in response to a journalist’s question about his actions in a hypothetical war scenario.

The BJP, India’s ruling party, has strongly condemned Marwat’s statement. Pradeep Bhandari, a BJP spokesperson, stated that Marwat’s comments reflect a lack of trust in Pakistan’s military and its defense capabilities. Bhandari further claimed that Pakistani ministers have already booked flights to relocate their families abroad if hostilities erupt. He characterized this as a widespread sentiment in Pakistan that the country is incapable of withstanding India’s military might.

The heightened tensions stem from a recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists with alleged cross-border links killed 26 tourists. In response, India has banned all Pakistani visas and suspended the Indus Waters Treaty.

This latest development follows previous military escalations between the two nations. India launched airstrikes on a terrorist camp in Balakot in 2019 and conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in 2016, both in response to major terrorist attacks attributed to Pakistan-based groups.
