Sun May 04 04:12:25 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Leaders Accused of Failing to Secure Special Status During PM Modi’s Visit
**TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh (May 4, 2025)** – The Communist Party of India (CPI) has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan of failing to secure Special Category Status (SCS) for the state during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Amaravati.
CPI national secretary K. Narayana criticized the state leaders for their silence on the issue, stating they “remained mute spectators” while the Prime Minister delivered a self-congratulatory speech without addressing key concerns like the steel plant or the state’s financial burden.
Narayana highlighted the Centre’s limited financial commitment to the capital city’s construction, noting that only 10% of the ₹15,000 crore World Bank loan will be covered by the central government, leaving a significant financial strain on Andhra Pradesh. He further criticized the delayed completion of the capital city, blaming both Naidu and his successor, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for the project’s shortcomings.
The CPI also expressed concern over the increasing damage caused by elephants to agricultural fields and farmers in the combined district. State Executive member Rama Naidu demanded immediate action from Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan to address the issue and protect both crops and farmers from the threat.
