Sat May 03 18:21:40 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Hospital Building’s Illegal Expansion Under Scrutiny
**Hyderabad, May 4, 2025** – A six-story building in Hyderabad, originally permitted for four floors under residential zoning, is at the center of a legal dispute. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) issued a clarification Saturday, responding to reports that the HYDRAA chief criticized officials over an illegal hospital structure.
The building, initially approved for stilt plus four floors in March 2019, now includes a cellar, five floors, and a penthouse. Further, it’s being used as a hospital despite only having residential permission.
The GHMC stated that the owner received initial notices in June 2024 regarding the violations and was ordered to rectify them. However, the owner obtained a status quo order from the city civil court and applied for regularization under the GHMC Act of 1955, which was subsequently rejected. The GHMC is currently preparing a counter-argument to the court order. The matter remains under legal proceedings.
