**CINCINNATI, OH –** The Flying Pig Marathon weekend is set to begin this Saturday, May 4th, bringing with it a flurry of races, events, and corresponding road closures throughout Cincinnati. The festivities start Thursday and Friday with a Fitness Expo at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, where runners can pick up their race packets. Packets for the Sunday half and full marathons are available at the expo throughout the weekend, while those participating in Friday and Saturday’s 5K and 10K races can pick them up Wednesday, April 30th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the same location.
The first race, the Fifty West Mile, starts Friday at 7 p.m. along W Pete Rose Way. Spectators are encouraged to utilize designated spectator zones throughout the city for optimal viewing, details of which can be found on the Flying Pig Marathon website.
Race organizers urge drivers to plan ahead, allowing extra time for parking in downtown Cincinnati due to anticipated congestion. A list of recommended parking lots is available online. Extensive road closures are in effect throughout the weekend due to the various races. A full list of road closures can also be found on the Flying Pig Marathon website.
The weekend promises not only intense competition but also a vibrant atmosphere celebrating the spirit of running, highlighted by related events such as a children’s book celebrating the marathon and a limited-time ice cream flavor from Graeter’s.
