Sun May 04 13:12:49 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Expands Land Records Reform Program Amidst Controversy
**Hyderabad, May 4, 2025** – The Telangana state government is expanding its Bhu Bharati Act and portal, aimed at reforming land records, to 28 more mandals across the state starting Monday. This follows a pilot program in four mandals. The expansion includes public meetings (revenue sadassus) until May 20th to address landowner grievances related to the Dharani portal, the previous land records system.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated the meetings aim to raise awareness and resolve issues. District collectors will participate to explain the new act and facilitate solutions.
The initiative comes after widespread criticism of the previous Dharani portal, implemented by the BRS government. Many landowners reported losing land ownership rights due to the system, leading to significant distress and legal battles. The Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, enacted the Bhu Bharati Act (2025) to rectify these issues and reduce the extensive litigation resulting from the Dharani portal’s implementation. The government is seeking cooperation from citizens and officials to ensure the effective implementation of the new act.
