Sat May 03 18:10:00 UTC 2025: **Southern New England Batters Through Another Weekend of Rain**

**Springfield, MA** – Southern New England is bracing for another round of wet weather this weekend, marking the eighth consecutive weather system to bring rain to the region. While not a complete washout, Saturday saw a severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of Western Massachusetts, including Greenfield, Turners Falls, and Shelburne Falls, until 2:45 p.m. A wider severe thunderstorm watch remained in effect until 8 p.m. for several counties in Massachusetts and neighboring states, including Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont.

StormTeam 5 meteorologist Kelly Ann Cicalese rated the severe weather threat a level 2 out of 5, with damaging winds, localized flooding, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and hail posing the greatest concerns, particularly in central and western Massachusetts. Boston is expected to see thunderstorms later in the day, though less severe than those further west.

Saturday saw temperatures in the mid-80s with high humidity. Showers are expected to continue into Saturday night and linger into Sunday, with more widespread rainfall anticipated Sunday evening into Monday morning. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into next week, with showers forecast through Wednesday.
