**Patna, Bihar, May 3, 2025** – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav rallied members of the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) on Saturday, urging them to abandon Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Janata Dal (United) in the upcoming Bihar Assembly election. Addressing a large crowd at a rally in Patna, Yadav characterized Kumar’s leadership as outdated, calling for a change to a “new vehicle” – referencing his own candidacy.
Yadav, who is also the Leader of the Opposition, criticized the current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, accusing it of anti-constitutional actions against Dalits and backward classes. He further accused Kumar of fostering unemployment, migration, and increased atrocities against backward communities, alleging false imprisonment of many. He specifically pointed to the alleged rise in harassment following Bihar’s prohibition policy.
Highlighting the EBC’s significant voting bloc – comprising over 36% of the electorate according to a recent caste-based survey – Yadav emphasized their crucial role in the election’s outcome. He contrasted his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s, record of increasing reservation for backward castes with the current government’s perceived inaction, claiming that under his leadership, jobs and security would be guaranteed. He further promised to combat corruption, vowing to imprison those involved. The rally, attended by thousands of EBC supporters, demonstrated strong support for Yadav’s campaign.
