Fri May 02 21:52:32 UTC 2025: ## Assam Chief Minister Condemns Pakistan’s Actions in Balochistan

**New Delhi, May 3, 2025** – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused Pakistan of perpetrating a “ruthless campaign of state-sponsored terrorism” against the people of Balochistan. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Sarma highlighted the alleged systematic extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and torture inflicted upon Baloch activists, students, and intellectuals by Pakistani state agencies.

Mr. Sarma’s remarks follow recent tensions between India and Pakistan, stemming from a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that India attributes to Pakistan-based terrorists. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2016 Independence Day address, where the Prime Minister voiced support for the Baloch liberation movement, referencing the suffering of the Baloch people and those in Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Mr. Sarma framed this as a crucial moment where India broke the global community’s silence on the issue.

The Chief Minister’s statement represents the latest in a series of official-level verbal exchanges between India and Pakistan. His condemnation of Pakistan’s actions in Balochistan comes after he previously criticized remarks made by Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Prof. Mohammed Yunus, regarding India’s northeastern states.
