Fri May 02 23:10:00 UTC 2025: ## National Commission for Women Condemns Ullu App Web Series for Sexual Coercion
**Mumbai, May 3, 2025** – The National Commission for Women (NCW) has launched an investigation into Ullu App’s web series, “House Arrest,” following widespread outrage over videos depicting apparent sexual coercion of female participants. The NCW issued summons to Ullu App CEO Vibhu Agarwal and host Ajaz Khan to appear on May 9th, stating the content violates women’s consent and dignity.
The controversy stems from a video clip showing host Ajaz Khan pressuring contestants to engage in intimate acts despite their visible discomfort and refusal. The NCW Chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, condemned the show, calling it a “blatant violation of women’s consent and dignity” and a normalization of misogyny. Rahatkar emphasized that if the allegations are substantiated, the perpetrators could face serious penalties under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The Maharashtra State Women’s Commission has also taken action, requesting a ban on “House Arrest” and legal action against those responsible. Chairperson Rupali Chakankar described the content as “highly derogatory and exploitative.”
This is not the first time the NCW has intervened in cases involving online content deemed harmful to women. The commission is urging all OTT platforms and content creators to prioritize ethical and legal standards in their productions, highlighting that safeguarding women in the digital space is not a choice, but a responsibility.
