Sat May 03 14:57:33 UTC 2025: ## Chennai Man’s Dogs Become Canine Blood Donation Heroes

**Chennai, India (May 3, 2025)** – A retired consultant from Chennai, G.K.M. Kabbir, is making headlines for his extraordinary contribution to animal blood donation. Kabbir has trained his four dogs – Rowdy, Cocoa, Racket, and Rusty Kutti – to regularly donate blood, saving countless canine lives over the past decade.

His journey began ten years ago when a friend’s dog needed emergency blood. Kabbir’s Chippiparai, Rusty, became a regular donor, even receiving the “Best Blood Donor” award from TANUVAS in 2019 for his rare blood type and numerous donations. Rusty’s blood has even been flown across state lines to help other dogs.

Now, Kabbir maintains a rigorous three-month donation schedule for all four of his canine companions, ensuring they are healthy and well-cared for after each procedure. He is meticulous about selecting well-trained veterinarians to minimize discomfort for his pets.

Kabbir’s dedication has inspired others, leading to the creation of the Chennai Small Animal Veterinarians Association (CSAVA) blood donors club in 2022. The club connects pet owners with veterinary clinics, offering incentives such as free vaccinations and deworming for participating dogs. Dr. G. Bharanidharan of CSAVA hopes to encourage more pet owners to participate in this life-saving initiative. Kabbir’s selfless act highlights the unique bond between humans and animals and underscores the importance of canine blood donation in saving lives.
