Fri May 02 20:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Chivas and América Battle to 2-2 Draw in Thrilling Semifinal Clash

**Guadalajara, Mexico** – A dramatic penalty in stoppage time salvaged a 2-2 draw for Club América against Chivas in the first leg of their Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2025 semifinal clash. The thrilling encounter, played at Estadio Akron, leaves América with a slight advantage heading into the second leg.

América dominated the early stages, with Montserrat Saldívar hitting the crossbar before eventually opening the scoring in the 39th minute with a skillful finish. Chivas responded strongly in the second half, equalizing through Alicia Cervantes in the 52nd minute from a Carolina Jaramillo cross. Cervantes then put Chivas ahead, converting a penalty after a foul on her in the 70th minute.

However, a late VAR review awarded América a penalty for a handball by Casandra Montero. Nancy Antonio stepped up to convert the spot-kick, securing a 2-2 draw and leaving the tie delicately poised.

The advantage now rests with América, who will advance to the final with a win or draw in the second leg at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes on Sunday. Chivas must win in Mexico City to reach the final.
