**Gaza City, May 3, 2025** – An Israeli airstrike on the Khan Yunis refugee camp in southern Gaza has killed at least 11 people, including three infants, according to Gaza’s civil defense agency. The attack, which occurred around 3:00 a.m. local time, targeted the Al-Bayram family home. Eight of the victims have been identified as members of the same extended family.

Mahmud Bassal, a spokesman for the civil defense agency, reported the casualties. An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed the strike, stating it targeted a Hamas member, but offered no further details. Witnesses described a bright light followed by an explosion, resulting in widespread destruction. Rescue workers sifted through the rubble to recover bodies, with harrowing footage showing one rescuer carrying the lifeless body of an infant.

This latest attack comes as the death toll from Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza continues to rise. The Hamas-run health ministry reported at least 2,396 deaths since the campaign resumed on March 18th, bringing the total death toll since the October 7, 2023, conflict began to 52,495. The ongoing Israeli blockade of Gaza, implemented since March 2nd, has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, with UN agencies warning of famine and urging Israel to lift the restrictions. Israel maintains the blockade is necessary to pressure Hamas to release hostages.
