**Hyderabad, May 3, 2025** – Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced that Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for road projects worth over ₹5,416 crore in Telangana on May 5th. The projects encompass 14 initiatives spanning 138 km, including road widening and four-laning projects connecting various districts. Key projects include the widening of a 17.79 km stretch between Nirmal and Khanapur, and the four-laning of 42 km between Mancherial and Repallevada, and a 52.6 km stretch from Repalle to the Maharashtra border.
The inauguration will involve two separate events in Kagaznagar and Amberpet. Mr. Reddy highlighted the Modi government’s commitment to national infrastructure development, stating that the central government is prioritizing infrastructure in 90% of districts nationwide. He further emphasized the significant increase in Telangana’s national highway length from 2,500 km to approximately 5,200 km, achieved through a central government investment of ₹1,25,485 crore over the past decade. The increased connectivity aims to boost employment and overall progress.
Regarding the ongoing caste census debate, Mr. Reddy confirmed the central government’s intention to conduct a comprehensive caste census alongside the population census, as mandated by the Caste Census Act. He criticized the Telangana government’s caste survey, differentiating it from a full census and criticizing the inclusion of Muslims in the Backward Classes list. He assured that the central government’s census would be conducted transparently, reaching even remote areas.
