Fri May 02 08:40:00 UTC 2025: ## UCSF Partners with Uber to Offer Employees Discounted Shuttle Service
**San Francisco, CA – May 1, 2025** – University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Uber have announced a new partnership providing UCSF employees with access to Uber’s employee shuttle system for commuting to the Mission Bay campus. Starting June 2nd, a limited number of UCSF employees will be able to purchase a monthly subscription for $160, offering access to ten different routes across the Bay Area.
The program aims to alleviate parking congestion and promote sustainability by reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicles on campus. The shuttles, featuring amenities like Wi-Fi, charging outlets, and climate control, will drop off and pick up employees at 3rd and 16th streets, near the UCSF Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision and Uber’s Mission Bay headquarters.
UCSF employees interested in participating must purchase a monthly subscription by May 21st to secure their spot. The program will initially operate with a limited number of seats, scaling up based on demand. UCSF employees are responsible for any parking fees at shuttle pick-up locations. A valid UCSF ID and email address are required for registration.
“This partnership is a win-win,” said Jon Giacomi, associate vice chancellor of UCSF Campus Life Services. “It offers our employees a convenient and cost-effective commute, less than the price of a parking space, while supporting our sustainability goals.”
Andrew Preusse, an Uber Shuttle lead, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the program as a “groundbreaking partnership” that reimagines employee transportation in the Bay Area. UCSF employee Amanda Aguilar, who commutes from Fremont, expressed excitement about the service, anticipating significant cost savings and a reduction in commute stress.
This initiative comes on the heels of the announcement of a new San Francisco Bay Ferry terminal in Mission Bay, slated to open in 2027, further expanding transportation options for UCSF employees. For more information and FAQs, visit [link to UCSF website].
