**Chennai, May 2, 2025** – Three Tamil Nadu farmers were honored today with the prestigious Nammazhvar award for their outstanding contributions to organic farming. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented the awards at the Secretariat in Chennai.
G. Sampathkumar from Coimbatore district received the first prize of ₹2.5 lakh and a medal, while T. Jagadeesh (Tiruppur) and V. Kalidoss (Nagapattinam) secured the second (₹1.5 lakh and a medal) and third (₹1 lakh and a medal) prizes respectively.
The awards recognize the farmers’ dedication to promoting and practicing chemical-free agriculture. The Tamil Nadu government actively supports organic farming through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Mannuyir Kaathu Mannuyir Kaappom scheme, awareness campaigns, and educational tours for students to organic farms. The Nammazhvar award aims to encourage and support further growth in this sector. Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam and Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam were among the officials present at the ceremony.
